BERLIN LIBRARY GALLERY FEATURED ARTISTS
MARIAN BICKERSTAFF AND NANCY REYNOLDS
Marian Bickerstaff, originally from Pennsylvania, has been painting in oils since the 1970s. While oils remain her primary focus—conveying a strong sense of place, light, and luminosity—she also explores bold acrylics, textured surfaces, and innovative techniques, guided by her playful curiosity, asking, “I wonder what would happen if…?” After retiring from banking, she moved to Ocean Pines, MD, to devote herself fully to her art, experimenting with oils, acrylics, mixed media, and even photography manipulation and computer-generated design. Her work, celebrated for its light, texture, and sense of place, has earned awards at the Art League of Ocean City and the Worcester County Arts Council. Beyond her studio, Marian actively contributes to the community through several local organizations.
Nancy Reynolds creates stunning copper foil and lead cane stained glass sun-catchers, windows, lampshades, and mosaics incorporating shells, rocks, geodes, and fossils. Her work transforms everyday objects into unique pieces of art, from wall hangings and tables to mirrors and picture frames. Her love of art began in childhood, inspired by her mother, but it wasn’t until a stained glass workshop in 1990 that she discovered her true passion. Nancy honed her skills while working part-time at a stained glass supply store in North Carolina, learning etching, mosaics, lead cane techniques, and the “tricks of the trade.” Now retired from physical therapy and newly relocated to Maryland’s Eastern Shore, Nancy is thrilled to fully devote herself to her art and join the local arts community.
