Work Description Fused Glass, Stained Glass, Acrylic Painting

Biography I am an artist deeply inspired by the beauty of the Eastern Shore, specifically Chincoteague Island, Virginia where I reside with my husband and 5 felines.   The island’s breathtaking sunsets, vibrant flora, and abundant wildlife inspire my work in this beautiful coastal area.  Through my primary mediums of fused glass, stained glass, and acrylic painting, I strive to capture the essence of my surroundings, evoking a sense of tranquility that the area stimulates within me.

Fused glass and stained glass serve as a primary canvas for my artistic expression, allowing me to play with light, color, and texture. Utilizing a mix of opalescent and transparent glasses, I explore the interplay between natural light and the rich hues of the coastal landscape, and the beautiful birds, creating pieces that immerse you in the energy synonymous to coastal living.

In my acrylic paintings, I delve into the realms of impressionism and abstraction, translating the organic forms and rhythmic patterns of coastal flora and fauna into vibrant compositions. Over the past year, my artistic approach has undergone a significant transformation as I shifted from realism to a more impressionistic style. This change has been a pivotal moment in my creative development. My process has become more fluid and intuitive—what once took days to complete can now be achieved in just a few hours.  Embracing impressionism has allowed me to explore expressive brushwork, unexpected color palettes, and a deeper focus on value relationships rather than strict color accuracy. It has been a liberating and inspiring evolution in my work.

Through my art, I aim to inspire a deeper appreciation for the delicate ecosystems of the Eastern Shore, encouraging viewers to slow down and immerse themselves in the beauty that surrounds us.  In 2022 I became a certified Master Naturalist with a focus on the wildlife, which you will often see in my creations of both glass and paintings.  When I’m not busy creating art, you can find me volunteering at the visitor center of the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge.

I have taught various painting and art classes locally, and I am a member of the Art League of Ocean City, the Chincoteague Cultural Alliance, the Crisfield Arts Syndicate, the Corbin Gallery Co-op, and the Worcester County Arts Council.   In addition to showing my work in the galleries, you will see my art displayed in many shows and retail locations on the Eastern shore.
