Work Description:
Acrylic paintings

Biography:
My first drawing pad was a telephone book. When I was a child, I was eager for the new phone book to arrive because then I could fill every page of the old one with crayon drawings. I progressed from crayons to other media and eventually received a BFA from MICA (Maryland Institute College of Art) In Baltimore, MD.

Originally from Baltimore, I have lived in the beach area for more than 30 years. Besides the incredible light that we have here, I am constantly inspired by the beauty that surrounds us. Not only the water scenes and the rural settings, but ordinary subjects that define the culture.

In my paintings I apply my own techniques of color, light and design to a variety of subjects. The basics are always the same; the subject matter changes. I work primarily in acrylic which allows me to paint in layers, creating more color complexity in the work.

Some of the artists that have influenced me most are Claude Monet, Andy Warhol and Edward Hopper. I have exhibited in Ocean City, Berlin, Snow Hill, Ruxton and Fells Point.

I reside in Ocean Pines with my wife, Edie. In addition to being a painter, I am also a cartoonist and a graphic designer. In July I will move my Studio from Snow Hill to the Chamber of Commerce building in Berlin.
