Community Arts Development Grants Awarded
The Worcester County Arts Council is proud to award $10,020.00 in Community Arts Development Grants program to 12 art projects and events to be presented during the granting cycle beginning July 1, 2010.
Funding will support a wide variety of creative and innovative projects that are of outstanding artistic quality and demonstrate community benefit enhancing the lives of everyone living and visiting the Worcester County.
The following is a list of organizations and their events that are being awarded a Community Arts Development Grant for the current granting period:


Art League of Ocean City - various art exhibits
Berlin Heritage Foundation - Second Annual Peach Festival
Berlin Intermediate School - Community Screen Painting
Ecumenical Choir of the Eastern Shore (ECHOES) - Winter Concert
Great Pocomoke Fair - Pocomoke Fair
Julia A. Purnell Museum - After School Program at Snow Hill Middle School
Mar-Va Theater Performing Arts Center - Mar-Va Theater Academy
Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra - Symphony Concerts
Ocean Pines Players - "Nunsense" Performance
Pine Tones Chorus - Winter Concert Series
Snow Hill Alliance for Responsible Progress (SHARP) - First Fridays Gallery Walk Music
Worcester Chorale - Fall Concert and a Sing-Out

The Worcester County Arts Council’s Community Arts Development Grants program is designed to assist local community based groups produce and present arts activities in Worcester County and is funded and supported by the Maryland State Arts Council.

The event or activity must be open to the public. The applicant must be affiliated with non-profit group, or a government related organization, such as school or park & recreation department located in Worcester County and the amount requested must be matched one-for-one by organization funds.

The next deadline for applications to be received in the Berlin office is October 15, 2010.

Credit for the grant must be given to the Worcester County Arts Council and the Maryland State Arts Council as one of the requirements.

Any non-profit organization wishing to apply for grant funds for a cultural event is encouraged to call the Arts Council at 410-641-0809.
