The Worcester County Arts Council’s Community Arts Development Grants program is designed to assist local community based groups produce and present arts activities in Worcester County and is funded and supported by the Maryland State Arts Council.

Art Scholarships
Scholarship Guidelines
  • The Worcester Arts Council will award up to four scholarships of $1,000.00 each, to the chosen students during the 2009-2010 school year.

  • The Scholarship must be used for enrollment in an accredited college program for a degree in the arts. Scholarship moneys are limited to be used only for tuition and fees.

  • The applicant must be a legal resident of Worcester County.

  • The applicant must be graduating from high school in May 2010, or enrolled in an art program at an undergraduate level.

  • Applications must be submitted to the Worcester County Arts Council, Inc, 6 Jefferson Street, Berlin, MD 21811, before April 1st , 2010.
    No late or incomplete entries will be accepted.

  • Applications must be typed or word processed. Those handwritten will not be accepted.

  • Please be sure to complete the entire application form and ensure all accompanying materials are enclosed prior to mailing.

  • Applications must be accompanied by two (2) sealed letters of recommendation from teachers, artists or professionals who are familiar with the applicant's work. Applications must also include an academic transcript (photocopies may be submitted).

  • Applicants should submit one of the following:

    • Visual Arts - (8 - 10) slides, DVD, or power point (IBM format) of their visual art; all slides must be numbered and an arrow indicating which way is up.

    • Music - cassette tape or CD of their musical accomplishments; must be at least one solo piece provided.

    • Dance and Theatre - a video tape or DVD of performance

  • Applications will be reviewed by the Arts Council Scholarship Committee and applicants will be notified of the Scholarship decision in early May, 2010. Applicants should be available for an interview if requested.

  • A certificate of the award will be presented by a WCAC Board Member at the senior award ceremony. Checks will be forwarded to the college or university when that information is provided by the scholarship winner.

  • Winners are required to attend the WCAC annual meeting in Spring of 2010. Date TBA.
