The Worcester County Arts Council is proud to award $19,100 in Community Arts Development Grants program to 11 art projects and events to be presented by local nonprofit arts organizations during the 6 month granting cycle beginning January 1, 2012.

Meet Monica Forrester

Work Description:
She works with traditional wheel thrown shapes that she alters by cutting, carving or twisting.

Biography:
Monica Forrester has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Salisbury University, and a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.
She is a resident of Berlin and the Arts Immersion Coach and Art teacher at Pocomoke Middle School. As the Arts Immersion Coach, she helps teachers integrate the arts into their current curriculum.

Monica has always enjoyed working with her hands and became enthralled with clay while at SU.
Monica is a member of the Eastern Shore Clay Guild and a member of the Board of Directors for the Worcester County Arts Council and a member Maryland State Fine Arts Education Advisory Panel.


Recent Work:
Recently, she has created bead and tile work.
She is fascinated with the firing process and through this creates simple, elegant forms with visual and tactile textures.
