Meet Jayne Collinge

Work Description:
Painting on porcelain

Biography:
Jayne Collinge is a porcelain artist living in Worcester County, Maryland. She has been painting since 1968. She started teaching in 1973 and her students’ travel from Pennsylvania, Virginia, Delaware, Maryland and Washington, DC to attend her informative classes.

Jayne has painted Christmas ornaments for the Smithsonian Institution for their annual Trees of Christmas displays. She has painted items for Presidents George Bush and Bill Clinton. The White House porcelain box she painted for the Clintons is on display in President Clinton’s library. Jayne was commissioned by the Washington Interior Design Studio to paint a dinner set for the Designer’s Showcase held from October, 1982 to July, 1983 at Woodward & Lothrop in Washington, DC.

Porcelain is her canvas, and large or small, they all present a challenge. Jayne designed and painted a dinner set of the Twelve Days of Christmas with each piece reflecting a different design. It truly was a labor of love. In 1988 she was awarded the Grand Champion of the Adult Handwork Division at the Montgomery County Maryland Fair from among hundreds of entries.
All art comes from the heart, which makes our world a happier place to live.
