The Worcester County Arts Council is proud to award $19,100 in Community Arts Development Grants program to 11 art projects and events to be presented by local nonprofit arts organizations during the 6 month granting cycle beginning January 1, 2012.

Meet “Artist’s Choice” -Juried Art Exhibit

Biography:
Exhibition juried and judged by the accomplished local artist, Jim Rehak who selected 37 pieces of art submitted by 22 professional, amateur and student artists.

This art exhibit features paintings, photography and mixed media created by the following artists:
Jim Adcock, Marian Bickerstaff, Brigitte Bowden, Jean Bowers, Rosemary Burns, Myrna McGrath, Barbara Hager, Helen Hammerman, Mary Jane Hastings, Jim Hijacek, Rudelle Hall, Jeri Lipov, Judith Lewis, Mary Murphy, Noel Noche, Linda Perry, Paige Ruby, Marcy Snyder, Walter Schumacher, Irene Diane Voss, Isobel Troutman, and Pat Young.

The winners of the juried exhibit were honored at the opening reception on September 9 at the Arts Council Gallery. The winning artwork was selected by local, award winning artist, Jim Rehak.
According to his comments: "The strongest artworks in this show conveyed a sense of light, a quality of mood, strength, and composition that invited the viewer. Understanding of color and drawing empowered these pieces."

Artist, Pat Young won first prize for her watercolor painting titled "Storm Warnings", Paige Ruby placed second for watercolor painting, "Yellow Iris", and Marcy Snyder won third prize for "Misty November Morning", watercolor.

An honorable mention awards were also presented to Isobel Troutman for her watercolor painting " At Rest", Jim Hajicek for the oil painting "Fisherman's Pride", and Myrna McGrath for the "Shades of Summer", watercolor painting.

The exhibit continues through September 30.
