Meet Mariana Luce
Acrylic and watercolor painting
I paint imaginative pictures in mixed media, acrylics, and watercolors inspired by everyday scenes and experiences. Their bold colors show the drama, humor and feelings, some ironic but not cynical, we encounter in life.
My favorite style is abstract, a scene abstracted from life. Right now I use mixed media and acrylics to paint subjects such as "Spring" mixed media, "Winter" acrylic, and "Summer" mixed media, personified by a feminine presence. A favorite acrylic was "Donegal Horse" that depicts a tender feeling for a strong subject.
"Meet Me at the Clock," is a watercolor of an Ocean City boardwalk scene. There is also a series of watercolors inspired by the coziness between me and my sister Nanci Spano, tables for two set with seasonal flowers: "Spring" tea," "Summer" iced tea, and "Winter" hot chocolate. Her favorite "Echinacea," was inspired by a seed packet.
There are small acrylics of industrial settings, "Broken Pottery, "Green Chair" and "Dawn Fishers." I donated one of those, "Dawn Fishers" of a commercial fishing boat, for the silent auction to benefit the Worcester County Arts Council; (please, bid big for the little guy!).
I moved to Ocean City, Maryland in 2000 and decided to create "my best life." I couldn’t paint a stroke of watercolors, so I challenged myself to learn taking classes with Pat Henderson’s at the Art League of Ocean City, watercolor workshops at the Worcester County Arts Council, Sharon Himes’ workshops, Barbara Schmid’s classes, and drawing classes from Wor-Wic Community College.
In September I’ll continue with Barbara at the ALOC in the Ocean City Cultural Arts Center.
I often paint with Jody Veader, George Hamaty and Stacia Hubeck, and fellow artists too numerous to list.
Several pictures are on loan and others for sale. If you would like something similar to any of them, let me know and I will paint it for you in the medium you choose.
I hope you like these pictures, and that they echo sentiments you’ve experienced in life.
